Discover a new path to know the cultural and natural values that have made that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has named the system of the Valle Salado of Añana a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, the first in Europe.

Instead of talking about the production of the salt, this tour talks about the geology and the biodiversity of the Valle Salado de Añana. You will also visit the main spring of the salines called Santa Engracia. Surrounded by a botanic enclave, this salty water spring is connected to a system of wooden channels, that distributes the brine by gravity all over the salines.

This route introduces an important novelty: you will be able to walk through a saline path next to a riverbed, which sometimes flows above a wooden footbridge. As a result, you will not only observe those different sediments that show in a unique way this valley’s geological history, but you will also enjoy in a more closely way the water and the halophilic flora and fauna.

For more than 400 meters you will walk under the shadow of the crystallization salt-pans, going trough these complex wooden structures to enjoy this unique architecture system in the world.

Among April and October this visit includes the possibility to enjoy the outdoor Saline Spa. In its facilities, you will be able to introduce your feet and hands in this hypersaline water which comes from the springs. You will feel the benefits of the salty water.
