Valle Salado + Salt Water Springs

The heart of Valle Salado is at the head of the valley, at the southern end. This is the point where the springs that supply salt water to the salt farms originate. A system of wooden channels, resembling the veins and arteries in a human body, distributes the brine, through force of gravity, to the wells and salt-pans.

Only on this tour will you be able to see how the brine flows from the Santa Engracia spring, the one that provides the greatest flow, and the systems that have been used by salt makers for thousands of years to deliver the precious fluid to the entire salt farm.

You will also be able to see the maintenance work being performed to recover the sustainable nature of the site. Keep in mind that restoring the splendour to a landscape of this nature implies using different types of building techniques characterized by the traditional nature of the installation rather than by its complexity.

Between April and October, this visit includes the possibility of enjoying the outdoor Salt Spa. A facility where you can submerge your feet and hands in hypersaline waters from the springs. You will feel the beneficial effects of salt water.
