Wells
Brine storage
Deposits are the heart of salt farms and its filling is the cause of most of the disputes between the salt makers. This is caused by the limited amount of salt water coming from springs, the large number of existing threshing pits and concentration of the production work to only a few months. This explains the large amount of wells in the Salinas (currently 848) and the need for a complex distribution rule book for the use of the brine, known as the Master Book.
The morphology of the wells is varied but can broadly be divided into four types: external, with sluice, heaters and with vats.
