Recovery of the canals
The first actions of restoration in the Salt Valley had the objective the recovery of the wooden canal network. Its significance lies in that in order to keep the productive infrastructures well preserved they have to be continuously soaked with brine.
All available material has been reused in the rebuilding the pipeline network. Since it was not enough, it was necessary to build new sections using logs that have been emptied on site with a mechanical device developed for this task. Wood studs have been used for the support in heights and joints between channels have been waterproofed with clay.
