Santa Maria Cathedral

Come and explore the Cathedral of Santa María (Vitoria-Gasteiz) and the Salt Valley of Salinas de Añana. Two comprehensive recovery projects based on the same philosophy of “Open for works”, which have received the Europa Nostra Award, the “Nobel” of restoration in Europe.

Entering the Cathedral of Santa María in Vitoria-Gasteiz is the beginning of an exciting journey through the past and the history of a Medieval Quarter of great beauty. A historical walk in which the visitor participates in a unique opportunity to enjoy a monument in the process of recovery under whose foundations are hidden the origins of the city itself.

The Salt Valley is a cultural and natural salt landscape more than 7,500 years old and is in the process of recovery to restore its sustainability. Under an approach open to the public, visitors of all ages and groups can enjoy a guided tour that is a unique experience. They will have the opportunity to learn about the history, architecture, biodiversity and the way Añana Salt is produced, benefiting at the end of the visit from the therapeutic effects of salt water in the Salt Spa.
