The Añana Salt Valley Foundation is a non-profit institution whose fundamental mission is to recover for society one of the most important cultural and environmental landscapes in the world, the Añana Salt Valley.
One of the activities that the Foundation has launched to achieve the recovery and enhancement of the salt pans is the production of high quality salt. To this end, in addition to producing with traditional techniques one of the best salts in the world, the Foundation has developed an exclusive sponsorship program whose main objective is to obtain recognition of the Salt Valley and its Añana Salt in the market, involving the best prescribers of national and international gastronomy in our project.
Among them are, without a doubt, the Cooking Schools of the Basque Country, whose main objectives are to train future hotel and catering professionals, with the same criteria of excellence applied in other countries with many decades of tradition and experience in this field, and to promote gastronomic research and innovation.
In 1996, on the initiative of Karlos Arguiñano, the AIALA Catering School was launched. Since its inception this school arises with a clear vocation of attention to society. Through its numerous long and short courses it offers a constant possibility to learn for oneself or for professional purposes the activities of Cooking, Confectionery and Nutrition. The school has 2 locations near the center of the town of Zarautz.
The Escuela Superior de Hostelería Bilbao is the consolidated result of an ambitious project, which was born in 1991 as an initiative of the Association of Hotel and Catering Businessmen of Bizkaia, with the main objective of training future professionals in the Hotel and Catering Industry.
This entrepreneurial imprint present in ESHBI’s daily life gives the center a special character and a close link with the daily reality of the sector.
This school is a public center of Secondary Education, dependent on the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government where Formative Cycles of the Professional Families of Hospitality and Tourism and Food Industries are taught, as well as continuous, occupational and distance training. The center is located in an enclosure composed of five buildings in which its facilities are distributed, equipped with the most advanced machinery, equipment and means that you can imagine.
The I.E.S. (I.T.S.) Hostelería- Ostalaritza B.H.I. (I.T.B.), better known as Escuela de Hostelería de Gamarra, is a public vocational training center founded in 1988 and located in the north of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Its mission is to meet the qualification needs of the hospitality sector, providing students with quality training that allows them to adapt effectively to the demands of a constantly changing society.
The Leioa Hotel and Catering School was founded in 1981 as a result of a study carried out by the Department of Commerce and Tourism of the Basque Government on the expectations of the growth of the hotel and catering sector. Its main mission is to be a reference in terms of training in the area of Hospitality and Food Industries, meeting the needs of the sector and having as a reference our educational project developed in the University Campus of Leioa.

The School is an educational center that is part of other educational activities of the Fundación Diocesanas-Jesús Obrero Fundazioa. Among its objectives is to promote the teaching of studies related to industrial activity, with special attention to the human and Christian dimension, as well as to strengthen the relationship between the teaching and the surrounding companies, in order to favor the labor insertion of the students and to promote the competitiveness of the companies in Alava.
