Óscar Velasco is one of the most influential Spanish chefs on the culinary scene. This Segovian chef has won several culinary awards over the years and has a long career in restaurants such as Lasarte and El Racó de Can Fabes.
He began his career in the world of gastronomy after studying hospitality management in Segovia. His first steps as a chef were at the Zalacaín restaurant and later in the kitchen of the renowned Spanish chef with twelve Michelin stars, Martín Berasategui.
After working for three years alongside Santi Santamaría as second chef at Can Fabes, which held three Michelin stars, he has been in charge of the kitchen at Santceloni in Madrid for 20 years, and currently runs his own restaurant in Chamartín, « Velasco Abellá, » with his wife.
Óscar Velasco and Montse Abellà are synonymous with culinary excellence. With an award-winning career spanning more than 20 years, this professional and romantic couple have worked in the finest restaurants and alongside the highest-level professionals in Spain and France. Throughout their careers, Velasco and Abellà have achieved great success together, earning Michelin stars, Repsol Suns, and more. They have also earned personal accolades, such as Oscar receiving the National Gastronomy Award for Best Chef in 2007, and Montse winning the Grand Prix au Chef Pâtissier, which Montse received in 2016. However, it is now, in their own restaurant, where they fully reflect their cooking style: personal, creative, and where, above all, the product prevails.
